Appealing to Nature Materials -- an editor's view.

Nature Materials offers authors high visibility for their
work. A team of full-time, professional editors selects and commissions
articles that have the best chances to appeal to the journal's broad
audience. In this talk I will convey the editor’s perspective on the
life of a manuscript after submission to Nature Materials, and give an
overview of the recent biomaterials and nanomaterials research published
in the journal.

Pep Pàmies earned bachelor and PhD degrees in chemical engineering
from Rovira i Virgili University in Tarragona, Spain. Keen on broadening
his background, he undertook postdoctoral appointments at the
FOM-Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics in Amsterdam (The
Netherlands), the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in
Potsdam (Germany) and Columbia University in New York City. His research
work included theory and computer simulation of polymers, colloids,
biological membranes and elastic surfaces. Pep is interested in a broad
range of topics in computational physics and biophysics. At Nature
Materials, which he joined in June 2010, he covers topics in soft matter
and biomaterials.
