- BE Undergraduate Student, Jessica Schlosser, won the best poster award in Biomaterials/Drug Delivery at the UC Systemwide Bioengineering Symposium held at UC Berkeley.
- BE Graduate Student Albert Mach was selected as one of
Forbes "30 under 30" in its science and innovation category. The
list recognizes "today’s disrupters and tomorrow’s brightest
stars." Mach was recognized for his centrifuge-on-a-chip, which
can detect cancer via a blood test. Read more.
- BME Graduate Student Derrek Hibar received the 2011 National Science Foundation Graduate Research
Fellowship Program award which provides three year of research support.
- Former BME Graduate Student, Andrew Fung, won the Postdoctoral
Scholar Research Integrity Ambassador Award from the National
Postdoctoral Association, He will be going on to represent UCLA at the
ORI–Quest for Research Excellence Conference as Integrity
Ambassadors. The award recognizes exemplary achievement in
leadership, scholarship, professional involvement, and
university and community service, especially as it relates to
involvement with research integrity. We appreciate their
dedication to the highest standards of research integrity and
look forward to the new ideas and considerations they will bring
back to campus.
- BME Graduate Student, Albert Mach, in Professor Dino Di Carlo's research group, won the CHEMINAS Young Researcher Poster Award for his poster presentation: A.J. Mach, J.H. Kim, S.C. Hur, D. - BME Graduate Student, Foad Mashayekhi in Professor Daniel Kamei's
research group, takes 3rd place in the TATRC Grand Challenge for his
oral presentation entitled "In-Field Detection of Biological Warfare
Agents". Mr. Mashayekhi received special recognition, as well as
$10,000 from TATRC to continue his research.
