Title: Dental Aerosol Management

In Dentistry, aerosol generating procedures present additional potential challenges for due to high velocity of the aerosols and droplets emitting from the dental instruments.  Numerous aerosol controlling measures have been developed and this talk will cover the design and performance of a simple engineering solution that is currently used in clinical settings.

Title: COVID assistance from UCLA Engineering Makerspace: Rapid prototyping and small scale production

In Fall 2018 UCLA Engineering opened a new makerspace, a facility containing tools, space, and supplies to support students technical projects and rapid prototyping of engineering designs. In Spring 2020, the UCLA Engineering makerspace also supported the design and production of a variety of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to address anticipated near-term shortages. I will describe some of these projects.
