1. Bioengineering Research Day – BGA kicked off our first virtual Bioengineering Research Day on February 5th, 2021. We hosted 130+ attendees, including prospective Bioengineering masters and doctoral students. We were delighted to highlight incoming UCLA BE Professor Jennifer Wilson, UCLA BE Joint Professor Holden Wu, and UCLA PhD Alumnus Westbrook Weaver as our speakers. We also featured posted presentations from current BE graduate students and had 3 special student oral presentations. We look forward to welcoming new Bioengineering graduate students to our department in the fall!
2. Bioengineering Seminars – BGA collaborated with the Bioengineering faculty to invite graduate student-nominated professors and industry professionals to present at our department’s weekly seminar series. So far, we have hosted Dr. Brian Aguado, rising Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at UCSD, and Professor Jessica Kramer, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Utah. Additionally, for our industry seminars, we have hosted Dr. Nirmal Keshava, Vice-President of Data Science and Innovation at Cerevel Therapeutics. BGA will continue to host seminar speakers for the duration of the spring quarter – we look forward to the opportunity to connect with faculty members from other universities!
