On Nov. 12 2025, in the 2025 edition of Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers list—which recognised 6,868 researchers worldwide across more than 1,300 institutions in 60 countries with 7,131 awards—UCLA Bioengineering post-doctoral researcher Yihao Zhou and PhD student Guorui Chen were honoured. Each has published multiple papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for their field and year over the past decade. The list uses data from the Web of Science Core Collection and involves both quantitative citation thresholds and qualitative review to identify researchers whose work exerts exceptional global influence.

Dr. Yihao Zhou is a postdoctoral research fellow in the UCLA Department of Bioengineering. He obtained his PhD in mechanical engineering & materials science from Duke University. His current work focuses on the development of soft magnetoelastic bioelectronics. According to his Google Scholar profile, he has an h-index of 50.

Guorui Chen is a Ph.D. student in the UCLA Department of Bioengineering, where he has been conducting research since 2020. His work centers on integrating bioelectronics and artificial intelligence to advance healthcare. With an h-index of 45, Guorui has already published 18 first/co-first-author papers in leading journals such as Nature Electronics (2), Nature Biotechnology, Nature Chemical Engineering, Nature Cardiovascular Research, Chemical Reviews (2), Matter, and ACS Nano. He is also the recipient of several prestigious honors, including the American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship, Amazon Doctoral Fellowship, Arthur Nowick Graduate Student Award, and the Materials Research Society Graduate Student Gold Award, among others.

Both Dr. Yihao Zhou and Guorui Chen are current members of the Bioelectronics Research Group, led by Prof. Jun Chen in the UCLA Department of Bioengineering.
